Marcia’s work focuses on creating and implementing design tools that recognize and promote unique community character. She has worked with communities across the country to identify historic assets, analyze existing program components, and determine strategies to improve the preservation program. Through the creation of historic preservation plans, historic district design guidelines and standards, historic preservation ordinances, and the establishment of new historic preservation programs, she seeks to help communities celebrate their unique assets and stories. Marcia also works on comprehensive plans, small area plans, zoning ordinances, and unified development codes across the country.
